It started taking him over.
the process was slow, as was the change that came along with it. Neither his
friends nor his family realized it, either - they were too busy with their own
little lives and their own little problems.
Jonas didn't realize the alien had laid its eggs in his head untiol that
fateful day when they hatched, and little baby ones started streaming out of
numerous holes in his skull. So as to keep him alive as a food source, the alien
had already secreted a kind of local anesthetic to keep him from passing out due
to pain. Jonas kind of sat there, in the middle of Mr. Watkins' math class,
aliens streaming out of his head, trying to figure out what the square root of
64 was.
"eek!" a girl screeched.
"yes! that's right!" Jonas thought to himself. "eight!"
Jonas quickly scribed down the answer.
"eek!" a few other girls screeched. Jonas tried to block
it out - the next
question probably had a different answer.
"jonas has giant bugs squirming out of his head!" the class bully, Rod,
shouted. Rod was always shouting - he was a very shouty kid. Jonas didn't really
appreciate how he was making fun of his lice in the middle of a math quiz. it
wasn't very polite at all - he'll probably get some points taken off of his test
for it, Jonas thought to himself. wondering why Mr. Watkins hadn't called for
everyone to quiet down yet, Jonas looked around the room. Mr. Watkins was laying
on the floor in front of the room, sleeping. Jonas thought he looked a little
pale - he must've been really tired! looking across the room, it seemed as if
perhaps everyone else was sleeping, too. about half of the class had the
pale-sleeping thing going on. Jonas regretted going to bed early. a dash of
jealousy rose in his heart.
"blah blah blah!" the larvae said to each other.
"blah BLAH!" they responded.
